Jorge Ben Jor
Jorge Ben Jor, born Jorge Duílio Lima Menezes on March 22, 1939, is a Brazilian musician from Rio de Janeiro. Discovered performing in the clubs of Copacabana, he signed to Philips and built a run of albums from 1963 to 1976, moving through samba, bossa nova, afro samba, tropicália and funk, culminating in Africa Brasil. He has recorded under the name Jorge Ben Jor since the 1980s. His track "Que pena" later entered the repertoire that shaped Brazilian drum & bass.
